End of Wenger's era at Arsenal

It’s not often when the football odds are that wrong, but they were with Arsene Wenger’s successor at Arsenal. For weeks (or so it felt) the overwhelming favourite in the race for the job was Mikel Arteta, the former Arsenal midfielder seemed to have the job in the bag. That was until the shock announcement from the club that the job had gone to former PSG boss Unai Emery.

In hindsight, Emery is the obvious choice for the club, European experience, experienced in dealing with difficult dressing rooms and winning titles.

It’s with all of this fanfare that many fans have already forgotten their past, Arsene Wenger revolutionised Arsenal throughout his 22 year stay at the club. From signing world class players, to creating world class players and winning trophies, Wenger deserves more recognition. It’s for this reason we’ve created a timeline highlighting the good work he did at the club.
