Borussia Dortmund set to fire Petr Bosz after the defeat against Werder Bremen

Borussia Dortmund are set to announce the sacking of under fire manager Peter Bosz in the wake of the 2-1 defeat at home to Werder Bremen.

The defeat on Saturday means the Bundesliga giants are now seventh on the log and are currently three points adrift Champions League places, it also means Borussia Dortmund are now without a win in their last eight games across all competitions.

Having guided a youthful Ajax side to the Uefa Europa League final last season, Peter Bosz impressed many as he was brought in to take over the reins from former manager, Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

The Dailymail understands that the top brass at the club have decided to part ways with the Dutchman following their 2-1 loss at home to Werder Bremen on Saturday.

He was brought in to atleast challenge Bayern Munich in the title race but despite a good start at the Signal Iduna Park, results have not been forthcoming in recent weeks and the Dutchman's short spell at the club looks set to come to an end in an abrupt manner.

It is believed Dortmund have already lined up a replacement in Nice manager Lucien Favre as the man to replace Peter Bosz.

The visitors took the lead via Maxi Eggestein before they were pegged back by hitman Pierre Emerick Aubameyang but a goal from Theodor Genre Selassie in the 65th minute secured all three points for Werder Bremen at the Signal Iduna Park.

Despite the defeat, Aubameyang's goal made him the highest goal scoring African player in the Bundesliga with his 97th strike having bettered the record of Anthony Yeboah who previously held the record.

The Bundesliga outfit will be hoping to address their abysmal run by getting back to winning ways as they travel to face Mainz on Tuesday.
