City swat aside Arsenal in ruthless attacking display

Manchester City made it two wins in 4 days against Arsenal after beating the Gunners 3-0 away at The Emirates Stadium. After meeting in the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday, City defeated Arsenal with the same scoreline as the game at Wembley, with a brilliant attacking display in Pep Guardiola’s 100 th game in charge of the team. The huge gulf in quality between two sides was evident as City raced to a three-goal lead before halftime as they swatted aside Arsenal with a ruthless performance oozing of class, quality and panache.

Goals from Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Leroy Sane condemned The Gunners to an
embarrassing loss and move City closer to a first League title in 4 tests. Arsenal looked second best all night, and while they tried to get back into the game, the damage had been done in the first intervals by the visiting side. The win sees City get to 75 points for this season, matching The Gunners tally from last year with 10 games still to play. City are now 16 points clear at the top of the table. After the 3-0 humiliation at Wembley on Sunday, Arsene Wenger made four changes to his XI with Jack Wilshere not even featured in the match day squad. Still basking in the national stadium triumph, Pep made two changes as Ederson Moraes and Bernardo Silva came in for Claudio Bravo and Fernandinho.

German youngster, Leroy Sane was majestic, scoring one, creating another and having a hand in the third in a display that shows his increasing maturity. City played like a team on top of their game, making Arsenal look so ordinary and showing why they have been a notch above every other team in the division. Guardiola said after the game : "It's important to maintain the 16 points in front - we need five more games to be champions. It's never easy, when you win the title, you think you can relax or not be focused but we were. So far, we've had an amazing Premier League season."

Sergio Aguero has now had a hand in 14 goals in his last nine Premier League starts (11 goals, 3 assists) while Arsenal lost their 7th game in all competitions this year alone, the most by any English top-flight team.
